2019 Birthday Dinner @ Grub

When we talk about new year,  we will automatically look back at the past year to see what has happened, what have we learned, what brought us down, and set new year resolutions, to be motivated to grow in the next year. My 2018 started great and it remained smooth throughout the year, up until the end when it turned bad all of a sudden.

Putting the bad mood aside. My permanent new year resolutions:- Eat good, Sleep good, Live good !
yup, this might sound 肤浅 because people set more sophisticated goals while mine is just... erm... they seem achievable with 0 effort. But, to me, they are not easy at all and they are not measurable by any objective means. They depend totally on my own expectations and feelings.

Food - a basic human need
I updated my insta story quite often, mostly with with food posts. I can't tell which place serves the best food because every one has different taste buds and expectations.
However, i would still like to share with you a good place that serves nice steak.

Grub by Ahong & Friends @ Seksyen 17 PJ

The first time I visited Grub, honestly, I was a little bit surprised by their interior decoration. i won't describe the environment, you can google it on your own. Don't get me wrong, it is just not as cozy as i had expected but it's clean, bright, and comfortable to dine in :) my bf and i didn't make a reservation that day and it was a weekend. we waited 20 mins before they open for business (at 6 p.m. for dinner). Guess what? Fully booked lo.

But thanks to their staff who gave us a chance to try even though it's a bit "risky" i would say because we were suggested to finish our meal by 6.30pm (because ppl already booked ma..)
Their team did a good job. They were very efficient and the quality is there. 一点都不马虎

We ordered Wagyu steak and Tenderloin steak. Both were medium well. Oh ya, if you prefer the steak to be cooked "medium", i can guarantee that you will get it done exactly that way, not well done nor medium well done steak. LOL you get what i mean.
The tenderness, and juiciness... awwww~ as well as the blood-coloured meat framed by white fat.. that's..... satisfying.

The second time i visited Grub was on my 2019 birthday.🎆
If the food is not nice, what for did i visit here the second time? and it's on my birthday some more. Very logical and simple, right? Their steak is just NICE !
This time, we ordered 1kg of meat... it comes with salad, stir fried baby kailan, and steamed potatoes. this is too much for 2 pax la. We cannot finish them all >.<

Let me tell you a little about one of their side dishes - the potato salad. They are not baked nor grilled but steamed potatoes served with home made white sauce. sorry but i do not know how to describe the taste, they are just nice and impressive. 它是个不简单的番薯(是马铃薯啦)

Some of you might have visited the place before but please share with us your opinion. would you recommend this place to your friends/family?

The Scott's Pub & Restaurant

Fraser's Hill. The first thing that came to my mind was - RELAX and enjoy the food
Before heading to Fraser, i did some research on the restaurants and food in Fraser because my boy told me that the food choice is limited. Hmmm~
Other than mamak or local "food court" ... i found this
The Scott's Pub & Restaurant
i've gone through their menu.. the prices are reasonable. That's why we had our brunch and dinner there LOL

As mentioned earlier, we had our dinner at this place too because of its environment.

DIY fried rice

This will be my very first time blogging about how to cook. Fyi I don't really know how to cook. But cincai cincai one I know lar. Put some oil and then throw whatever ingredients into the wok and then fry fry fry, DONE.......? :D
When I was a kid, I used to stand aside, look at my mom while she was cooking. It looks FUN !
Last time, my cousins and I will play 'masak masak' during Mooncake festival. Lighting up the candles between 2 bricks, placing an unused stainless steel plate on top of it, picking some grass/leaves/petals, throwing them into the plate and then 'cook' like a boss LOL I know many of you did the same thing right?

Time flies, I'm no longer a kid. humans are strange/犯贱 LOL Why do i said so? When I was young I would like to learn cooking. but now I don't feel like wanting to touch any of the kitchen utensils :/
俗语说:女人要入得厨房,出得厅堂。 I've failed >_<
okay~ crap too much already LOL. Back to the point. To be honest, today's post is actually about someone who fried rice for me while I was responsible for capturing photos of the ingredients and here I'll explain the steps on how to fry rice LOL Let's start.....
First of all, ingredients to be prepared include:
- rice
- oil
- onion
- garlic
- eggs
- pepper
- soy sauce

Referring to the picture above, put the egg, pepper and soy sauce in a bowl and stir.

Fry the onion, followed by garlic, then the egg as well (you can scramble it or leave it whole). After that, it's time to throw in the rice. It's important to note that if you have extra ingredients at home, feel free to include them as well, for example dried shrimps, prawns, sausages etc to enhance the flavour, and appeal to your taste buds. :D But whatever it is, rice comes last.

According to your preference, add whatever sauce you like but soy sauce is a must, unless you're living a very healthy lifestyle and is ok with rather bland tastes.
*The sesame oil is used to fry the egg ONLY. Never tried frying rice with it but from my experience, it's best if we use plain cooking oil, or butter if you're generous enough; believe me the extra cost pays off rather well. ;)

And there you have it, a few simple steps to get yourself a plate of fried rice. For pros out there this might seem too easy but I guess there are those out there who could use some guidance on how to cook as well. Hope you enjoy the process and of course, the end result. Don't give up if you don't get it the first time though, it gets better with practice. Y(^.^)Y

1st of December

*sweep away the dusts* been a few months I didn't update my blog :/

Let me start off by saying that 1 December 2012 is a meaningful day,
a great beginning to what I believe will be an equally marvellous month.
Wonder why? You'll have to read on to find out. ;)

Our first stop of the day is a shop located near Gunung Rapat. Hidden from the sight of innumerable passersby travelling on the main road, it is truly a gem waiting to be discovered. In order for you to get there, just turn into the road beside KFC and go straight for a couple of minutes until you see the shop on your right.
新扬威 (Sun Yeong Wai)
best known for its roasted ducks and don't be surprised if you happen to find the restaurant to be crowded, it just goes to show how delicious are the food there.

Regardless of whether you are there with your family or friends, you'll definitely enjoy the array of scrumptious delights being served, which include roasted pork and chicken, soup, vegetables to name a few. What's more, even for their signature dish you get to choose how its prepared. We would very much like to show you the dishes that we have ordered just to tempt you but unfortunately, we failed to do so because we simply can't restrain ourselves from gobbling up the dishes the moment they are served.
Nevertheless, here's a picture of what it's like after the feast has ended. A great meal to start the day with indeed. :p

And of course, we can't leave out the self-shot session right?. Say cheese... :)
Kate & i

After brunch, our journey brought us to the next (actual) destination of the day - Aeon Station 18

Christmas is just around the corner so we figured that it would be a good idea to show you how beautifully decorated the mall is, more so with the presence of again, two of us again :p

You might have thought that we went there for shopping but you are wrong this time XD Don't be sad, it's not like there's any present for those who got it right anyway. blek :p
Where were we? Oh yeah, so movies are what brought us there: Breaking Dawn pt.2 which is quite okay and Pitch Perfect. Seriously, we got pitch slapped so hard we nearly ran out of breath laughing. LOL Here's a picture of the driver posing with Fat Amy, and the rest of the Bellas. He likes Amy's character so much.
Stop imitating her, Mr.Driver :/

Bitch Perfect?
Well, what are you waiting for? Grab your tickets and go watch it already if you haven't done so!

There's a 2 hour window between movies so we decided to have our dinner at Papa John's. It's our first time trying out this shop and boy we are in for a surprise. *takes deep breath*

From the receipt you can see that the order was taken at 5:30 p.m., a feat completed after many attempts to get the waiters' attention and waiting patiently for them to come and serve us. After that we sat and talked while they prepare our order, or so we thought. After an hour or so only a plate of wedges came. Seriously? Not even the drinks? :/ However, someone can still force a smile on her face when it comes to taking pictures. >_<

2 hours and 15 minutes later we can't afford to stay any longer as our movie starts at 7 sharp. It could be understood if there's a shortage of staff yet those who came after we did have already finished their food and left. So we approached the cashier for an explanation. It turns out that they the order somehow disappeared from the system. (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ To make up for it, they gave us complimentary ice-creams and we had to finish it in a hurry to make it for the movie, thus no picture is available. We were told to drop by again after the movie so we did 2 hours later.  This time they served us the pizza and its side rather quickly. We only ordered one pizza as you can see in the picture below, the other one is a set of complimentary cheese sticks.

Before going home, we managed to walk around Padini and there's a long queue at the counter because there's a 70% sale going on; none of us bought anything. Then we grabbed a cup of Caramel Macchiato from Starbucks and the cute girl (me? lol) took a picture with the equally ever-so-cute Hello Kitty at the arcade.

That pretty much sums up the whole day, minus the part where everyone is sleeping or doing something trivial like going to the washroom etc. Sometimes it's not a matter of where you are going, it's who you choose to go there with that's more important. In my case, it can never go wrong because I have most probably the best company a person can find in his or her lifetime to travel and spend time with.
Guess what? The person that i've mentioned is YOU -Kate Lee :D (don't be shy ^^)
